Android Oreo, technically the 8.0 version of the operating system, brings several interesting features including picture-in-picture mode, which will enable users to watch a video in a resizable and movable small window atop of any other app. Imagine watching a video while texting your friends. Google is also making it possible for users to create customisable channel for each type of notification, through a feature called "notification channel."

Google Report:

It comes with new features like picture-in-picture and Autofill to help you navigate tasks seamlessly. Plus, it’s got stronger security protections and speed improvements that keep you safe and moving at lightspeed. When you’re on your next adventure, Android Oreo is the superhero to have by your side (or in your pocket!).”

How TO Install Android 8.0
Don't have a Google-branded phone? The company announced Project Treble, an initiative that will ensure that the Android Oreo update comes to many more devices than previous operating system. Additionally, the list of supported devices undoubtedly grow as the year goes on, with the Google Pixel 2 Launched Soon .

“Ever try checking your schedule while staying on a video call?  Android Oreo makes it easy with picture-in-picture, letting you see two apps at once: it’s like having the power to be in two places at the same time! Overwhelmed by notifications, but missing the ones you care about the most? With Android Oreo, notification dots let you tap to see what’s new in your apps — like the important ones you put on your homescreen — and then take action on those notifications quickly.”

Google boasts that Android 8.0 is twice faster than previous versions. Google also claims that by tweaking how it manages background apps, it also decreased the volume of energy the OS drains from devices.

It's not necessarily Google's fault, however. The OEM partners such as Samsung, LG, Lenovo, HTC, and Xiaomi often take months before pushing new software updates to their respective smartphones. It's a long process, but much to Google's credit, things are quickly improving.
